Automattic the company behind the world’s famous open source blogging platform “WordPress”, has updated WordPress iOS app with two major features  which includse WordPress Stats and Quick Photo. WordPress iOS App is used by many bloggers to blog directly from thier iPhone, iPad r Mac systems.

Apart from introducing new features to its iOS app, WordPress Team also fixed almost 31 bugs in the version 2.8, Which includes widget problem, App crashes error, problem with external keyboard usage and adding categories on the iPad have been fixed in this release.

Two New Features :

WordPress Stats : WordPress states is inbuilt feature in WordPress.com blogs, using that users can easily check their blog readers stats by daily, weekly or monthly basis. Apart from the number of page views, it also shows the top referrers and top Posts. However, slef-hosted wordpress needs to install additional plugin to enjoy this free service like jetpack or wordpress.com stats plugin.

Quick Photo : Quick photo enables users to take a picture using iPhone inbuilt camera and insert into post directly, The Quick photo option is best for travel and personal blogs. For now this option is available only for iPhone, we can expect iPad-2 support in next release.

WordPress released it’s new Version 2.9.2 on 16-Feb-2010. It’s earlier version 2.9.1 was released on 05-Jan-2010. You can upgrade or download WordPress Version 2.9.2 from it official website.

Anyone know that why this upgrade is for?

As quoted on the WordPress blog, the previous version 2.9.1 allows logged in users to read trashed blog posts that belong to other authors. That means your personal crush to professional blueprint might be seen by your colleagues and blogging partner. That’s too risky right?

“Thomas Mackenzie alerted us to a problem where logged in users can peek at trashed posts belonging to other authors. If you have untrusted users signed up on your blog and sensitive posts in the trash, you should upgrade to 2.9.2.”

I recommended you that upgrade WordPress 2.9.2 and fix many security problems too.
